 In the beginning…

Results from the Latin name « Foliosa, folegi » in 1290, then « La Feuilliée , used until 18th century, which meant " House under sheets ", made reference to beeches and  oaks.

On the tracks of past…

Important place of hunting in the time of Dukes of Normandy.

In the 13th century, the hamlet counted only such shelters for the hunters of the Forest de Lyons.

Philippe Le Bel builds, in 1293, a manor house and a chapel.

The manor house was frequented by Henri 1st of England, Philippe Le Bel , Louis X and Philippe V le Long.

In 1541, it was destroyed.

The blazon :

The symbolism of this composition evokes the past

and underlines the present.

The blazon was conceived by Loïc Patin.

 Legend

Richard Sans peur  went hunting to Richebourg, he lives one day a white board as the snow. So, Philippe Le Bel would have named La Feuillie as a hunting party under the name of “Malte Brune”.

Heritage

Well of Mazis, being 95 meters deep and 1,50 meter in diameter.

The built set is 2,20 meters high. It was built in 1894, wooden, brick, flint and slate. On the side of the well, there is a small door allowing to reach the well to fill the trough of the cattle

The church

The first chapel built by Philippe Le Bel, was replaced by the church Saint Eustache.

Set up as parochial church by Reine Blanche d’ Evreux in the 14th  century.

Two chapels were added to the Renaissance, giving a particular structure to the church: a cross with double crossbar.

On the Romanics, the oldest and the biggest bows, there are  mouldings sculptured by marguerite to the right.

It also contains sculptured woodwork: stalls, panelling, confessionals, pulpit, baptismal fonts and benches and of magnificent stained glasses.

Built in 1560, the bell tower is considered as the bell tower of church covered in slates the highest of France with these 54 meters of height. Today, in the nave, a special frame built because of misfortunes of the bell tower (slope, collapse…).

The castle of Richebourg: In1560, Charles IX replaces the manor house by the castle of Richebourg, the hunting lodge of which is demolished in 1826. There remains today the entry porch, a watchtower and a farm.
